THE unusual condition of a small series of human crania, recently recovered from Northern Borneo, suggests that several forms of intentional deformation were practised by local aboriginal peoples, approximately 100 to 130 years ago. Cranial deformation, in light of ethno‐historical accounts, is offered as a reference point for future research into the local history of this custom.
