Representative Case Research (RCR) is reviewed with emphasis upon its contributions to the integration of science and practice in the helping professions. Policy issues in conducting RCR are raised with respect to the potential for dual relationships and the policies of academic institutions and service agencies that could work against its widespread adoption.
