Several articles have been written 1–3 on the Swiss regulatory process, and no attempt is made here to give a more comprehensive description of what to do to obtain approval in Switzerland. Our task is to shed light on the general ways and philosophy behind the Swiss regulations and to report on current developments. Whoever wants to know all the details can consult the rules and guidelines available, a list of which is included in the Appendix.
