I compliment Dr. Peppercorn on his organization of past and current information on the role of sulfasalazine and its analogues in the treatment of IBD. I offer the following comments, based on my own interpretation of the literature, my own clinical research, and my own practical experience in the management of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
