This article discusses an online tool to help identify options for source water protection (SWP), assess costs and benefits (qualitative and quantitative) of those options, and identify uncertainties. The tool is based on a triple‐bottom‐line (i.e., economic, environmental, and social) analysis framework that can be accessed on the Source Water Protection Cost/Benefit Tool website. The article discusses how to use the tool, and provides examples of the benefits that are included in each of the triple‐bottom‐line categories.
