This article discusses an effort by the Boston Professionals Chapter of Engineers Without Borders to conduct an assessment survey of water quality in the villages of Aguacatillo, Colonna, and Maraquito, Honduras, to design a water supply solution that will directly benefit 1,500 people. The engineers are working with the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation, an international organization that strives to aid and educate the poor. The organization has facilitated community involvement, strengthened Engineers Without Borders’ credibility on a local level, and helped establish a laboratory for water quality testing.
