This article presents mapping technology from Geospatial Corporation that can provide utility managers with three‐dimensional drawings that can help them manage and maintain their systems more efficiently and aid them in planning future system expansions, especially in situations where there are no as‐built drawings for water utility pipelines. The Smart Probe? technology from Geospacial Corporation can bolster the effectiveness of a water or wastewater utility's asset management system through an array of data collection instruments contained within several types of pipeline probes, as well as a proprietary software package that extracts the collected data and transfers it into various geographic information system (GIS) databases.
