In his column, AWWA Executive Director Gary Zimmerman relates the story of his Grandfather Morris, and compares Morris’ low‐key, gentle influence on his family to that of this month's focus topic, infrastructure, and how it quietly and without fanfare supports and affects many lives in countless ways. He goes on to introduce specific aspects of the Journal's focus topic that are covered in this issue, including: leak detection; pipe evaluations; asset management; advanced metering infrastructure; and, new ways to repair and rehabilitate pipe.
