This article announces the selection of Carollo Engineers by the City of Phoenix, Arizona, to test and evaluate desalination and concentrate management technologies for a future water treatment plant, the 40‐mgd Western Canal Water Treatment Plant, which will be one of the largest inland desalination facilities in the United States. Carollo Engineers will test a three‐stage reverse osmosis membrane configuration using ultrafiltration pretreatment to produce a concentrate from surface water for subsequent pilot testing of concentrate management technologies.
