This article discusses an online survey that was developed to address issues in the water industry concerning succession planning, and then sent to young professionals (YPs) across the country. The primary purpose of the survey was to investigate the level of YP commitment to the water industry, discover what aspects are most important for water industry employers to provide to keep YPs satisfied and challenged in their positions, and find out what YPs see as some of the biggest challenges facing their industry. More than 100 YPs participated in the survey. Demographics of the survey population and a breakdown of survey respondents by employer type are provided.
