In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the upcoming brain drain when the baby boomer generation starts retiring in another five to ten years. He suggests that the boomers, 40% of whom want to continue working past the usual retirement age, may act as mentors to help smooth the transition for new managers by providing support, coaching, and institutional knowledge.
