This article discusses how such factors as drought, contaminated water, a shutdown of a water treatment system for maintenance, more stringent environmental regulations, or the rising cost of capital equipment seem to be causing municipal drinking water facilities and other businesses to increasingly choose mobile water treatment for emergency, seasonal, and short‐term water treatment needs. USFilter reports that it has significantly invested in its mobile treatment systems over the past two years and now has an extensive fleet of filtration, deionization, reverse osmosis, and clarifier trailers that can be dispatched from locations throughout the US. The article also reports on a USFilter mobile treatment project involved in the Cucamonga Valley Water District in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Mobile treatment units allowed the district to have an uninterrupted supply of treated water during emergency supply line work.
