This article features the AWWA Public Affairs Council (PAC), which plans and coordinates public information and outreach programs and assists other councils with incorporating community perspectives and public outreach strategies into their work programs and products. The article discusses several methods of incorporating public outreach into an organization as an integral management function such as a strategic communication plan, proactive education and outreach, and incorporate public outreach funding into all major project budgets. Available tools and resources are provided.
