This article describes how the AWWA Management Development Committee is taking a proactive approach in providing training to water managers across the country. Together with AWWA, the Committee has developed and sponsored the Water Utility Management Institutes. The major goal of these institutes is to provide participants with a thorough knowledge of management and leadership principles and to develop the skills necessary to use these principles effectively in the workplace. The article lists the variety of topics offered at the basic Management Institute level, and also at the advanced level.
