This article briefly reports on San Diego County Water Authority's long‐range financial plan that incorporates the development of seawater desalination as a cornerstone of its plan to diversify the region's water supplies. As one of the largest commitments to seawater desalination in the U.S., this program is expected to provide up to 15% of the region's water needs by 2015.
