This article discusses how, by obtaining sustainable water savings through on‐going demand management programs, the state of California and specifically the El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) will extend the existing water supply. The article gives an overview of EID's conservation program, discusses the components of its urban and agricultural water conservation programs, lists statistics on annual water savings of its specific programs, and discusses its grant funding programs.
