This article announces that the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has contracted with Berliner Wasserbetriebe to equip four wastewater purification plants in Berlin, Germany, and a surface water treatment plant near Berlin's Tegel airport with a new uniform instrumentation and control system. The goal of the project is to integrate the automation solutions being used by the individual plants and to standardize operator control of these solutions. Under the $4 million contract, the new instrumentation and control system will enable central monitoring of all facilities (in accordance with applicable laws) and will lay the foundation for coordinated operations control.
