This article discusses how the AWWA Water Quality Laboratory Committee has provided a forum for the discussion of important issues facing drinking water labs. The committee is part of the Water Quality & Technology Division, which in turn is part of the Technical & Education Council of AWWA. The stated purpose of the committee is to study and report on issues pertinent to water quality laboratory activities and responsibilities. The Water Quality Laboratory Committee is composed of representatives from utility, public health, government, and university laboratories. The approach the Committee takes to encourage discussion of important topics for drinking water labs is discussed in the article, along with the expertise of committee members, committee activities and goals.
