This article describes the AWWA Disinfection Systems Committee's focus on understanding and communicating regulation changes to the AWWA membership, and how those changes have driven new disinfection technology. Because of its broad focus, the Committee maintains active liaisons with other Water Quality and Technology Division (WQTD) committees for concerted actions, and works with other Technical and Educational Council (TEC) divisions, the Standards Council, and the Water Utility Council. The Committee's membership has traditionally represented a cross‐section of the industry including academia, the manufacturing industry, drinking water utilities, regulatory agencies, and consultants. The article discusses the areas of water quality that the Committee focuses on and lists the various means by which the Committee disseminates information and education.
