This article discusses the new turbidity limits established by the US Environmental Protection Agency in the Long Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT1ESWTR). The article addresses the new treatment technique requirements for turbidity in combined filter effluent water and discusses how exceeding the turbidity levels can trigger an investigation. The benefits of using a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system even for small water systems are discussed.
