U.S. public water suppliers, who have been struggling for years to control atrazine levels in their treated water supplies, will get unexpected help starting this year under a new federal pesticide regulatory program. The program requires producers of the widely used herbicide to monitor and mitigate atrazine levels in surface water sources of drinking water. This help will include the limited possibility of watershed‐wide bans on atrazine use.
