This is the last of a three‐part series covering the new Public Notification Rule (PNR) requirements. Part one introduced the new requirements and discussed the steps necessary to develop a comprehensive crisis communications plan. Part two provided information on how to develop an effective media plan and offered tips on dealing with the media. This part of the series offers advice on effectively communicating with the public in a crisis. The information gathered regarding community relations, along with the information collected regarding compliant notification and media relations (discussed in parts one and two of this series), is vital to successfully fulfilling the responsibilities of the PNR.
