This article discusses the new Public Notification Rule (PNR) that requires all consumers to be notified, within 24 hours in some cases, if a system is not in compliance with a drinking water regulation. The importance of a crisis communications plan is discussed along with the requirements that must be satisfied in order to be in compliance. Also, an explanation is given of how the violations break down into three tiers and what must be addressed for each tier individually.
