In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr stresses the importance of emergency response plans for utilities that should include communication, cooperation, and coordination as the founding principles of those plans. He also stresses the importance of up‐dating the plan and having periodic reviews, drills or full‐scale exercises to identify failures and shortfalls as well as to promote better working relationships with all the participants.
