In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr stresses the importance of education for the future workforce and how companies are reporting difficulties in finding qualified applicants. Studies show that workforce participation, earnings, health care coverage, and employment stability all rise with increasing educational levels. People with a strong educational background are also more adept at using sophisticated technology and are better able to adapt to change. They also give back more to their communities through increased civic participation and volunteer activities.
