This paper describes the process of rehabilitating Stewart Field Water Filtration Plant, a 57 year old diatomaceous earth system located at Stewart Air Force Base in New Windsor, New York. Pumps and monitors were replaced, the microflocculation upflow absorption clarifier was adjusted by moving the aluminum sulfate injection point back as far as it would go and adding an inline flash mixer to the setup, a submersible pump was installed in one of the holding wells to reduce holes and tears from monthly manual acid washes, and the diatomaceous slurry feed line injection points were relocated.
