This article discusses the US Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA's) Drinking Water Contaminant Candidate List (DWCCL), a list of drinking water contaminants not subject to any proposed or promulgated National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. Specifically, the article discusses how the DWCCL was developed in 1996, the future role of the DWCCL in determining which contaminants are regulated, and the National Drinking Water Contaminant Occurrence Database (NCOD), which will store occurrence data for both regulated and unregulated contaminants.
