Exposing bromide ion–laden water to hydrogen peroxide and H 2 O 2 –UV‐Vis irradiation did not result in the formation of bromate ion. Although ozonation of bromide ion–containing water can produce bromate ion, studies with the hydrogen peroxide–ultraviolet‐visible irradiation (H 2 O 2 –UV‐Vis) advanced oxidation process demonstrated that this reaction did not occur when this advanced oxidation process was used. Reduction of any HOBr formed by the excess H 2 O 2 used in this process may have prevented bromate formation.
