Managing the maintenance and rehabilitation of a water distribution network can be greatly improved with the aid of an automated data‐manipulating system. The building blocks of a data‐base system are described in this article. When appropriate, examples are cited from the practical experience of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
