They address needs and concerns of water utilities from a practical standpoint; they are not intended to reflect official positions or policies of AWWA. Frederick W. Pontius, AWWA associate director for regulatory affairs, prepared this overview of the Disinfectant–Disinfection By‐product Rule and coordinates development of future articles. Pontius monitors and evaluates legislation and regulations that affect the water industry, prepares official AWWA statements on drinking water issues, and represents the association at meetings, workshops, and study groups.
