Mr. Carlyle responds to W. W. Windham's letter (December 1989 JOURNAL) on the POU [point‐of‐use] treatment industry. He is disappointed that each side of the water industry has such a defensive posture toward the other and that each often chooses to stereotype the other in a negative light. He states that within every group of individuals there will always be people at the extremes and hopes that each group will endeavor to make certain that those among their own ranks live up to their own high standards and then afford each other the same respect each group seeks.
