The author questions the fact that there are no regulations regarding the disposal of point‐of‐use filters after they have allegedly removed pollutants such as radioactivity, pesticides, heavy metals, etc. from tap water. If this is the case, the used filters would be a hazard to refuse handlers and the pollutants may be reintroduced into the environment via landfills.
