To better help small water systems comply with increasingly stringent drinking water regulations, AWWA has established a Small Systems Program as a component of the Technical and Professional Activities Department. All association efforts to assist small systems have been consolidated within the program, the primary objective of which is outreach education through information dissemination and technical assistance at the section level, in cooperation with state regulatory agencies and other organizations assisting small systems. Recent infusions of outside funds have made the fledgling Small Systems Program into a $300,000 operation.
