By 2025 Arizona's aquifers must be replenished to a status of safe yield. In an attempt to meet that goal, groundwater recharge and storage legislation was passed and signed into law this May. Reducing the groundwater overdraft will diminish the threat of subsidence, store water now for potential droughts, and provide a viable option for disposing of effluent.
