This panel discussed the parameters of safe drinking water at AWWA's annual conference in Dallas on June 13, 1984. Fred Elwell, chairman of the Water Utility Council and director and chief engineer of the Manchester, N.H., Water Works, served as moderator of the discussion. Participants were: Jean Auer, water director of the San Francisco Bay Area League of Women Voters; Foster S. Burba, president of the Louisville, Ky., Water Company; John Doull, professor of pharmacology and toxicology, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.; William C. Ford, director of the Public Water Program, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Jefferson City, Mo.; and Victor Kimm, director of the Office of Drinking Water, US Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C.
