Five microcomputer programs allow more rapid design of the components of municipal water systems. These programs cover the yield of a water source, a projection of water demand, the most economical size of a distribution pipeline, the required capacity of a regulating storage facility, and an economic analysis of the net benefits of the project. The method used in each program is briefly described, and an example for sizing a transmission main for pumped water is presented.
