Providing economically feasible household‐connected water systems to the rural, low income areas of a developing nation is a task of almost overwhelming magnitude. The Barangay Water Program in the Philippines, however, is on the way to accomplishing just that. A check of early system installation practices uncovered some surprising facts and ultimately led to several economically viable alternatives to conventional system design.
