Concern about cancer, sterility, cellular deterioration, mercury, asbestos, chloroorganics, and other chemical products is constantly shifting. Contaminants in water are cause for effective countermeasures. In some instances these countermeasures can take the form of a well‐developed public information program that refutes misconceptions, and in other cases processes must be changed to eliminate contaminants.
