The following articles were presented during a joint discussion that took place during the AWWA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minn., sponsored by the AWWA Grading Schedule Com. The committee was appointed in late 1972 “to work in cooperation with the committee on grading schedule of the advisory engineering council; to review the grading schedule to determine its impact and application on water‐utility design, practice, and operation; and to assemble and disseminate information on related matters.” The purpose of the discussion, centered on experiences in Birmingham, Ala., Champaign, III., and Kansas City, Mo., was to stimulate questions and responses and provide input for committee action.
