There are few developments in this country's history that have had more impact on its economy, its laws, and its ultimate welfare than the environmental movement, which has involved so much emotion, politics, and money toward a variety of goals. The water supply field must accept public involvement. By demonstrating to the public the technical and management skills, the professional integrity, and the financial awareness that it claims, the water industry may gain the public's confidence in its ability to do its job. That will be the best answer to the environmental movement.
