The hepatitis virus rarely, if ever, has been discerned in a water supply of a community that has evidenced an attack. Using sleuthing techniques, an almost airtight case, based on circumstantial evidence, has been constructed showing that the outbreak of infectious hepatitis among members of the Holy Cross football squad was due to water in a service line polluted as the result of a cross connection.
