Most past reports on the use of sand to remove cercariae have been negative. However, sufficient uncertainty shrouded the subject to prompt the authors to try again—this time using a twist. Rather than employ a vertical filter column, the authors turned the column on its side and thereby obtained results that merit additional evaluation.
