The automation of water‐treatment processes entails applying chemical reactants properly in relation to raw‐water flow and then appropriately disposing of certain reaction products. Aside from the problem of automating the treatment process itself, however, are the problems of automating the chemical‐sensing or ‐analyzing system upon which the total operation depends.
