This article pays tribute to Charles Potter Hoover, a Life Member of AWWA (1943), and well regarded for his research work in water softening and purification. A great many of his observations as the result of research appeared in some fifteen AWWA JOURNALS over the years. Seven editions of his book entitled Water Supply and Treatment were published by the National Lime Association, and served as a past chairman of the former Chemical and Bacteriological Section.
