This article begins by discussing variables that affect the amount of cathodic protection required for water storage tanks. The article goes on to discuss the development of automatic cathodic protection for water utility structures, called automatic potential control, which was replaced by the development of potentiostat polarization control. The article also discusses the development of a new system that offers three separate control circuits within one unit for the application, regulation, and measurement of cathodic protection.
