This joint discussion on the Prospect Water Treatment Works of Sydney, Australia, was presented at the 1968 AWWA Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio. H.G. Sweet of the Metropolitan Water, Sewerage, and Drainage Board, Sydney, Australia, provides background information on the events which led to the conception of the Prospect Water Treatment Works, the third largest water treatment plant in the world. Joseph. C. Lawler of Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Boston, Massachusetts, describes the technical details of that proposed plant. The main purpose of the plant is the removal of turbidity and color. The treatment will consist of clarification and filtration with facilities for pH adjustment, fluoridation, disinfection, and taste and odor removal.
