The cost of bulk activated carbon is less than bag carbon. This saving is reflected in the cost per ton. Thus, yearly requirements for almost any installation when purchased in bulk yields significant savings. The unloading time from carrier to storage or feeding tanks is faster, requiring less labor and reducing costs for manual handling of carbon when compared to bag carbon. Bulk shipments of activated carbon have virtually eliminated the dusting effects throughout plants. Shipments are untouched by handlers and there are no piles of empty bags to destroy. The most important advantage is that bulk carbon, stored dry or in water slurry, is readily available in any quantity for instant use with the turn of a valve.
