This article discusses the Northeastern Water Supply Study, whose objective was creating a long‐range, regional plan of development that would assure the future availability of adequate water supplies throughout the northeastern area of the U.S. This mandate was carried out by an integrated effort that involved all interested agencies on the federal, state, and local levels, in addition to private interests.
