This research report was conducted by the AWWA Research Foundation Committee on Color Problems. It was charged with developing procedures for effectively reviewing the state of the art and determining the research needs in the field of organic color in water. The report is organized into four sections: origin of color in water; chemical nature of water; coagulation of organic color; and, research needs for the study of organic color in water.
