Under a program sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (AID), the firm of Camp, Dresser & McKee was selected by the government of East Pakistan to prepare a study of the feasibility of an overall program for providing more water of safe quality and improving general sanitation in East Pakistan. The article first provides an overview of East Pakistan, including physical characteristics, climate, economy, existing water supplies, and then goes on to make recommendations related to developing a water supply program.
